Stitch Fix Review - Fix #1

I have been singing the praises of Le Tote for years now, but I have not had the opportunity to try another popular clothing styling box called Stitch Fix until now.

How Stitch Fix Works 

Step 1: Create a Stitch Fix account and fill out your personal styling profile.

Step 2: Schedule your fix. A $20 styling fee is charged for each fix you schedule.

Step 3: Your personal stylist will pick five personalized pieces that fit your taste, lifestyle and budget.

Step 4: Your fix arrives at your door.

Step 5: Keep what you like and send the rest back. You have three days to try on the pieces from your fix and decide if you are going to keep any of the pieces. The $20 styling fee can be used towards any pieces you choose to keep.

Step 6: Provide specific feedback on each of the items in your fix to help your stylist learn more about your taste. You can set up fixes on a recurring basis or schedule them on an as needed basis. Stitch Fix does not charge a membership or subscription fee, only the $20 styling fee at the time your stylist prepares your fix.

Thoughts on My Fix

Before receiving my fix, I was mostly interested in seeing what the stylist would pick out for me. I did not feel like the style questionnaire was very thorough or would give the stylist a good sense of what I was looking for, and I was correct. 

One thing I did like was that all of the pieces were seasonally appropriate for where I live. I remember getting a pleather dress from Le Tote one summer when I was living in DC and I wanted to laugh out loud when I saw it in the box. 

Daniel Rainn Cinella Lace Detail Knit Top - $58

I hated this top. It is not my style at all and the material looks cheap. I cannot believe it is $58. Definitely going back. 

Liverpool Mira Skinny Jean - $78

These jeans were so comfy. If I were currently in the market for a new pair of jeans, I might have kept them, but I am not. I also quite liked the price. $78 seems like a fair price for a well-fitting pair of jeans. Unfortunately, this had to go back too.

Liverpool Zarina Button Down Chambray Top - $58

This top was also close, except that I wound up not loving the print and I had recently purchased a similar top. This one went back as well.

41Hawthorn Lafayette Open Drape Cardigan - $68
Another piece that I absolutely hated. The material was awful. The style was also way off for me. This was an easy decision for me and it went back.

Toms Avalon Boucle Slip on Sneaker - $59
I thought these shoes were super adorable. The only issue I had with them were that they were way too tight fitting. I was definitely intending to keep these, but they had to go back as well.

Overall, I had some pieces that were close and some that were way off, and none that I fell in love with. I am hoping with the feedback I provided, my stylist can come closer to picking pieces for me that would work. I think it is more than likely that I will try Stitch Fix again, but since I work from home, it is not something I would need on a regular basis. Maybe only when the seasons change or I feel like I want to update my closet.
